Contra Vs. Sandinista

I don't know why - but now I'd really like to see a LNL module based on this - I know it won't sell but would be "pure" infantry combat. Maybe I'm crazy but I find it interesting. Maybe even other "brush" wars of the Cold War. I've been thinking of it a lot lately.

I know some folks find it tasteless - but I'm interested to know what really happened, and I think the men and women who fought and died on both sides need to have the world remember.

Am I wrong?

Robert S. McNamara Rest in... Well, Maybe Just Stay Dead

It's a little hard to have a neutral opinion of Robert Strange McNamara if you're of a certain age. President of Ford Motor Company and a quantifying "Whiz Kid," he was appointed Secretary of Defense by John F. Kennedy, where he shortly showed what a Secretary of Defense should neither be nor do.

I say business for a reason, as McNamara seemed to regard mankind's bloodiest enterprise as a bloodless, emotionless, soulless exercise in numbers. An architect of the Vietnam War, he was a prop… Continue

The Man Rules

At last a guy has taken the time to write this all down

Finally , the guys' side of the story.
We always hear " the rules" From the female side.
Now here are the rules from the male side.

These are our rules!
Please note these are all numbered "1 "
ON PURPOSE!
1. Men are NOT mind readers.

1. Learn to work the toilet seat. You're a big girl. If it's up, put it down. We need it up, you need it down. You don't hear us complaining about you leaving it down.

1. Sunday sports: It's like the full… Continue

Wargamers at Historicon next week?

Anyone else heading to Historicon next week (July 16-19, 2009) in Lancaster, PA?

If you're not familiar with the con, it's HMGS-East's biggest annual convention and is mostly miniatures-centric. If you're planning to attend, stop by our booth and say hey (Collins Epic Wargames).

Living in Interesting Times

Give this to Sarah Palin . . . she did her best to push Jackson off "the front page". Maybe we should ask Sanford for another interview . . . As for Jackson:

"he should have been prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law regarding the child molestation cases."

He was. He was acquited. (That doesn't mean he didn't do what everyone seems to say . . . )

" I just hope to hell no one tries to nominate this freak for sainthood."

No one is. A considerable talent; a difficult, complex, drivem and… Continue

I think you're right about the costs of the game, but as to the rest I'm not sure I agree. I think a system like LNL is expandable and is designed to reflect differences in nationalities and formations. I think it's too simple to be a AK vs. M-16....

Not tasteless, but how much different would it be from existing games for the value? One side with AK's the other with M16's? Point is, other than a quick graphics redo how much more content is there for the cost of making it? A WW2 game will alwa...

Speaking of airpower over vietnam the idea of using bombing tyo force some sort of behavior was not bad per se, but McNamara and the other gradualist have sustituted the threat of bombing to a real air campaign, and also consider that the oppositi...

I don't find it tasteless, and I'd love to see. Not too much has been done on this conflict, and the only tactical examination I can remember is an article and Firepower scenarios that I wrote for The General maybe twenty years ago.
