Hello again! Anyone interested in playing HotS, CR, R3, or any other Columbia block game via Vassal? Real-time mode is preferred, due to the interactive nature of the games. Also using Skype to add the voice chat function. Skype name is yankeeap.

Played Caesar's Gallic War for the first time at EllisCon. I was favorably impressed by it. It's very much in the Columbia Games tradition despite being published by Worthington Games.

Yes my block games to get a lot of use (especially the first Eastfront). Though at the moment I am unable to get out as much as I would like (some major back issues). So until I can find some people to come over and play most of the games I am playing is solo, and lets face it they are not made for solo-play.

I might seem to be self promoting, but if there are gamers close to the Trenton,NJ/Philadelphia,PA and can travel to me drop me a note and lets see if we can get some play time under our belts. (would luv to play the second editions of East Front, West Front, or the whole Euro Front, as well as any other block game, I am always looking to try new games.

For whatever reason block games just look more interesting than chits. My gaming times are from about 2-4 hours and the couple Columbia games I found to fit my needs of theme along with hidden complexity guised in simple rules. I've enjoyed 1812 as a gateway game and have had a couple games of Richard III under my belt which I enjoyed quite a bit. Last week I received Hellenes which is a bit more involved, so it will take a little while to hit the table. Richard III is about my speed right now. I do own some other wargames, but they just don't get off the shelf as much as the block games. I'm interested in the other Columbia and GMT block games and will eventually make my way to them. I think next on the list may be Rommel in the Desert, Liberty or Pacific Victory. Can't forget C&C Ancients - excellent, easy to explain and easy to play game with historical theme. That's a winner in my book.

I was picking up every single block game when theyw ere rare, but not that they've become pretty popular there are a few that I've missed. Still, I think I have the majority of those published so far.

I enjoy the fog of war aspect of the games. My worst sort of game is the one where you can optimize every single combat and movement factor. I like the more free-wheeling play needed for block games.

I am not much of a Napoleon era fan. I tend to gravitate to World War II with a few ACW and Ancients thrown in for good measure (I really like Avalon Hills Siege of Jerusalem). I enjoy both Pacific Victory as well as the Victory game. I also have Bobby Lee, Same Grant, and Gettysburg: Badges of Courage. I had some interest in Athens Versus Sparta.

Yeah, I became a sucker for these games ever since the Avalon Hill edition of NAPOLEON and then the first edition of Columbia's ROMMEL IN THE DESERT. I just don't get to play them enough. I will confess to letting go of my first edition of the EUROFRONT games so I could pay for the second edition! Just got RICHARD III a few weeks ago and have applied the labels, but haven't touched it since. The Simmons games are amazing and put a new twist on the block genre. A few years ago I was pretty wild about PACIFIC VICTORY and still like it. I've not yet played HAMMER OF THE SCOTS (heresy, I know) or even ATHENS VERSUS SPARTA and TEXAS GLORY. Not touched ANY of the Worthington games, although I ogle them on my shelf. Too many games, too little time..

Hey I am very much into block games, I have the entire first edition of the Euro-Front games, also the second edition of the Euro-Front games, along with the a few other Columbia games. The GMT Command & Colors as well as the Europe and Asia engulfed games. Would enjoy playing a few of them face to face
