I've played a bunch of Downtown, and I'm working on my 4th or 5th game of EV. I find EV to be vastly different from Downtown in terms of how you approach the planning and conducting of missions. As for it's value, as in all things opinion-based, your cup of tea may be different, but, for me, it's defintely a will play any time asked game.

Me thinks EV was a very good idea for expanding upon the core design of Downtown. But, I do not see a lot of activity on this page ... What is the verdict? is EV good or bad?

Digesting the Downtown the rules this weekend .. 3rd reading is always the charm. Anyone want to beatup a newbie via VASSAL? Live or pbem (if the game fits a not too difficult pbem rhythm. Give a holler

I need some suggestions for creating realistic but random raids (if you're playing the British) and ship dispositions (if you're playing the Argentines).

And if anybody would like to help coming up with some weapons values and results charts.... I'm no expert on the period.

On the front, the only thing that is important is the type (and maybe name if they had different weapons systems). I was thinking of putting a just a generic silhouette on the back so it could be used to hide the actual identity until the action starts.

John,

That looks great. Are you planning on putting the ship silhouette on the counter?

A detail of the map and a prototype naval counter.
