CHad definitely understand. This is one of those games that you really learn the best by playing with some folks who have been playing for a while. Perhaps a trip to consimworld expo in 2010? There is usually a group playing this at the con.

I love the premise of this game, but after months of reading and study, and a PBEM where I could neither keep track of what I was supposed to do next or what I had just done, I gave up. I might break it out again if I can get one of my friends to take a look with me, and dedicate some time to actually playing through it. But, I'm not sure that's going to happen.

I love a complex game where it isn't always apparent how different mechanics and different decisions will affect everything else in the game (at least when I can take my time figuring out my moves.)

Well, I don't mind fixes, but after all this time, how much stuff really needs fixing? Shouldn't it be done by now?

I agree! I hate living rules! If they live , let's "kill" them so we can concentrate on playing the game and devising new strategies, instead of rules.

Let's not "softwarize" the Wargame rules with new versions every 3 months.
That's the main reason I play ASL 80% on my gaming time..

Yes, the new rules every 6 months has been one of the problems for us. Also, not all of us played TR 4th Edition. The basic mechanics aren't the real problem, it's all the production and other stuff.

Jack the basics are still very much a carryover from Third Reich (4th edition Avalon Hill). If you understand that part of it, then it's just filling in the gaps.
Some friends play here in Phoenix and were playing at the Expo this year. It was pretty easy to follow along (I've not read all the new rules either).
It would help if Bruce Harper and company would stop changing the rules. It seems like there is a new version or update to them every 6 months or so.

Makes one wonder if this is another La Battaile series where you have ongoing system changes forever?
