I'm wondering if there is anyone interested in a game of Gulf Strike in the NE Baltimore area. I host a gaming group at my house every Monday evening and have tried without success until recently to get a game going. I'm now playing scenario one just now but I don't think that my opponent is up for scenario two. I'd love to have a go at it. Any takers??

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Carrier. By and far the best solitaire naval game I've played, and an absolute joy when you win, which is very rare.

There is something in the system that scares the heck outta me, I'll be ready to make my game altering move when suddenly, inexplicably, the system has countered it with a devastating attack.

I have stopped on occasions and just pondered the brilliance of the game.

Hi there,
My name is David Lubin, I have been a game Grognard for most of my life. I am looking for opponents I would prefer Face-to-Face gaming, but will consider PBEM. I am mostly into WWII games though I do enjoy and have several ACW and Ancients (in fact one of my favorite games is Siege of Jerusalem Avalon Hill). I also enjoy Monster Games. I have a good collection from GDW’s “Drang Nach Osten!” and “Unentschieden!” Through the Gamer’s “Bloody Omaha” to the most recent Decision Game’s remake of SPI’s (I actually have both versions) “War in the Pacific!” Though I really enjoy all types and sizes of War Games!

I also enjoy board games like “Space Hulk”, “Descent: Journeys in the Dark”, “Tide of Iron”, “Memoir ‘44”, and many others. I also enjoy a limited number of RPGs, CCGs, and Miniature games. I am handicapped and traveling is difficult for me but I can host and I can leave a game up on the table rather indefinitely! So if you are close enough to drive here drop me a note and let’s play a game, my collection is over 300 games.

Thanks

Dave

I have Vietnam and the American Civil War on my shelves. Would love to play them again.

Just found this group... The only games I've played from VG are Ambush! and Battle Hymn, in fact Battle Hymn was the first wargame I bought back in the early 90's. Anyway both are great games :)

Civil War is a great game.

I have some tried and true strategies for the first turn, but after that the game gets so variable that you really have to constantly re-evaluate. The important thing is the South has to make an important transition from trying to "win" the war to just delaying the North. Once that transition is made, Southern options become more clear. Effective use of sea power is really key for the North as it is the most unpredictable source of offensive power. With Ambush, one of my favorite games and the one that really sold me on wargaming.

I always admired The Civil War's game system, but never played it except a few partial solitaire games. It looks like a great game that is really hard to play well.

I love Gulf Strike even though I haven't played it for a long time! It's fun to blast the enemy!

So, I am running a game of Pax Brittanica at a local convention in a few weeks. I did it a couple of years ago and it went well, except Italy walked over to victory without a tweak to the divisor. Any one else have any recommendations?

No they're not, not Super Bowl winners. Some members of the defense need a major attitude adjustment too, especially about standards and excuses.

They are really a not very good team this year.

The Steelers used an onside kick today, and almost snatched defeat from the jaws of mediocrity too. It's a big reason why Roethlisberger could throw for 500 yards and still need the last play of the game to win, by one point.

Hold the line by Worthington games. A GREAT simple revolutionary war game, similar to Command and Colors, but uses Action Points instead of cards. You can move any unit you want with your points. (Similar to Conflict of heroes)
