Looking for a newer EF PC game. My old one, 8+ years, will not work with a friend's [who'd I would like to beat]. East Front is a classic, if only for a few improvements, like better burning tanks. I've played the battle for the hill just south of Leningrad many times [Sept. 1941], partly to see the forest be bombed away. Been to Russia 4 times, some good people but too much vodka. Found shell holes about 100 miles south of Moscow when with a picnic group.

Mine is War in the East using Attack on the March Rules. With that rules set the old girl takes on new life and Moscow is in danger and there are no silly 3x1-4 in a line to stop attacks while out of supply like in the old system. Armor now has it's wings and can roll over the Russians, all 7 million of them, yet the Russians have teeth also if the Germans are careless and leave a stray 6-5 at low supply. Since the Russians production system is basically triple in 1-4s and half the time in turns to build out 2-5 and 3-5 they can muster some decent attacks in the summer if the supply levels are right.

I have been playing a lot of Red Star Rising on vassal. Its a fun game but? I felt like playing something more historical and have a game of Russian Front going on vassal. I was a bit rusty but this is a better game than RSR no doubt!

A Victory Lost is such a great game that I find myself drawn back into being intensely interested in this game subject.

My favorite is TSR's Barbarossa, hated by many and loved by few. I think it handles the Russian Front very well. I like how the map has all the areas that were in the war in the east and I like the large hexes. No worries about bumping counters in this game. The strength points are my favorite part. Even when playing solo I always wonder if that tank corps has one SP or 10. Fun Game.

I also really enjoy Russian Front. That is a very, very close second for Russian Front games. I think the combat system is very good and I like how losses are handled.

I am looking for the "Holy Grail" of Eastern Front games and I still haven't found it yet. What are your opinions on which is the best?

I like UGG's Cold Day in Hell. It is very innovative game. Also, when playing the Eastern front in War in Europe. Ron
