Tigers in the snow, a fairly new pre printed battle map Memoir 44. Its a very good scenario, operation market garden is on the other side. Plays 2 to 8 players and takes about 3 hours. A lot of fun

battleline by GMT. Not really a war game, more like 9 hands of poker with a ancient theme. Its a great game and simple to teach.

Profile Information

Your introduction to consim gaming:
Born and raised in Newport News VA, I was raised playing on the grounds at Fort Monroe, NASA Air and Space Museum, The Jet Park on Mercury Boulevard, and all the museums in the area. At the age of 12 we moved to rural WV, where the only board games were chess, checkers, and monopoly. At the age of 19 I meet my friend Kai, who gives me a short intro to wargaming, but moves away, and gets married, and so do I.
Kai and I rekindle our freindship 20 years later, and he introduces me to wargaming. I say "Thats sort of geeky", but I try it, and Im hooked.
Now I spend many hours trying to learn as many games as I can, sometimes even painting my little memoir guys, or trying to design some fun variation of a game to see if I can do it.Its amazing after all these years of not quit knowing what to do I find War gaming.
Your favorite game(s):
Memoir 44, Manouevre, Tide of Iron, Battle Cry, Command and Colours ancients, carcassone, Ticket to Ride, Duel in the Dark, Panzer Grenadier, We the people, Wings of War (All decks and the minis), Battleline, battle for hill 218
What game(s) are you currently playing (solitaire, FTF, PBEM, etc.) or wish to play next?
Blue Max and Memoir 44 overlord
What game(s) have you played recently?
Memoir 44, Manouevre, Tide of Iron, Battle Cry, Command and Colours ancients, Battleline
In general, how much time do you spend gaming?
6 hours a week playing, 15 hours reading rules!
How big is your game collection?
25 games

Hammer of Scots was great. It was my first time playing a block war. I really want to try this out again. 12 hours a week of gaming is probably a little aggressive. I play Wed nights 8-midnight and than on the weekend I play about 4 hours so 8 hours plus a little online, reading rules, playing stuff with the kids.

No I haven't found an opponent yet...I've logged onto VASSAL a couple of times but there's not been anyone in the Memoir section...
I'll try to log on this evening (Tues., 4-21), but it may be later in the evening...
Thanks, I'm looking forward to a match, and learning from you....
Thanks,
James B

I'd like to hear about what that was all about.

The Game Matrix of Tacoma, WA, hosted a "Flames of War" Kursk scenario for NHMGS' Enfilade 09 Convention. This first, of a 3-part series, depicts the strategic situation, intorduces the opposing players and highlights the opening moves of the game.

I don't see any advantage to hex-shaped counters and a lot of disadvantages. The only problem with square counters is when the hexes are too small.

I think this coud be the place for looking for PBEM opponents. Just start a discussion for the game you would like to play PBEM, or consult an already existing discussion if there is already one concerning the game you want to play
