Imeprial.... A nasty game where you are confronted with the cold dehumanize money only world. I enjoyed the game very much though. It really tells you how the imperialist governments and greedy banker work together to thieve and enslave people. ...

I played 'Origins' and 'Thebes' yesterday, both of which were German games, not wargames. In the former, one primate type did almost manage a world empire while another type had kangaroo cavalry of some sort?

Profile Information

Your introduction to consim gaming:
I was introduced to wargaming by my older brother, when I was in junior high school. While we didn't play many games with each other at the time, I was able to build a small network of gaming buddies during high school. I got "re-introduced" to the hobby after a college hiatus when visiting a hobby store during a business trip in the '90s.
Your favorite game(s):
I'm a traditional hex-based type of gamer; Grognard is what you would refer to me as. My favorite wargame is SPI's Operation Typhoon. The reason this is my favorite game is because it is a "friendly" monster game, large and sexy, in being easy to play over a long weekend.
What game(s) are you currently playing (solitaire, FTF, PBEM, etc.) or wish to play next?
Age of Bismarck (playtest) is up next
What game(s) have you played recently?
Played Leaping Lemmings which is currently on the GMT P500 program. Design by Rick Young, the game is sure to be a hit. Played this game with my two daughters at CSW Expo 2008. Also got in a few turns of Age of Bismarck playtest, a game that ConsimPress will be publishing.
In general, how much time do you spend gaming?
Very little, but ask me again once I'm retired....
How big is your game collection?
1,000+ games but half still remain in storage out of state.
Your local game club(s) and/or where you reside (let's network!)
Hope to join a club soon...I reside in Plano, TX which is a suburb of Dallas
About Me
I was born and raised in Ventura, CA. I have two daughters from a previous marriage and now reside in Garland, TX with my wife and 1 yr. old son (and heir to my game collection), Cooper. Attended college at University of Redlands, CA and graduate school at Thunderbird, American Graduate School of Int'l Management, Glendale, AZ. My professional background is largely software product management. My current gig (which I really enjoy) is with Aquire. If you are involved with a company in possible need of enterprise org charting/reporting and related solutions, please let me know!
Personal Interests (favorite activities, movies, shows, books, music, etc.)
Favorite Activiites: tennis, military history, wargames, ice hockey, football, eating sushi.
Favorite Movies: Gettysburg, Pride and Prejudice, Notting Hill, Groundhog Day, Lost in Translation, Rear Window, The Man Who Knew Too Much, Vertigo, North by Northwest, It's a Wonderful Life

Are we really limited to 100 photos? If so, I'd better stop uploading, as I'm at 90.

Hey John: FYI...I received a message that a Janet Herbert left a comment on my page. I found no comment and there's no Janet Herbert listed in our membership. Another spammer?

2nd thing John, I have created a Vassal module for Pearl Harbor and put a not on the forum asking for the link to be made sticky at the top of the page 6 months ago, but no reply. Who moderates this page? If it's derelict I'd be very happy to take it on. It's going to be very quiet in there anyway :)

Hi John :) Have acquired a definitive collection of Winter War errata and variants, and am currently in the process of annotating some recent replays. Intending to put out a call for strategy articles soon. Once complete I'd be grateful if you'd review the project material with a view to considering allowing me to post and publicise it as a free pdf under the 'SPI Revival Ezine' umbrella. Seems like a fun idea for the mythical 2nd issue to finally appear out of nowhere :)

John, I really enjoyed the 20K Games for $150K article you posted. Talk about the sheer volume of the games he collected over time. Wow. There was a recent article within the past few years about a guy who sold a record collection that he had of similar scope. And my wife complains about a few of my old Beatles albums lying around the house...!

Hi John, glad you enjoyed my portfolio website.
Honestly, I could say the same about the states and living there, I think it is just a matter of what you are used too all day ;)

On Monday night Tehran and Konark fell - a good turn for the Reds. Having Konark is especially sweet as I've got two airbases to fly in and I'll put 3 MIG 23's on intercept on one base and two MIG 23's and a Backfire on offensive on the other. The...
