The really neat thing about FC Rommel is how each campaign plays so differently from each other. What works in the Ghost Division campaign doesn't always work so well in Africa, etc. For me, the Africa campaign is the hardest campaign.

I've been playing a lot of FC: Rommel lately. I purchased it along with FC: Alexander, but I am focusing on Rommel for now. I've really enjoyed it so far. I've played the first campaign quite a few times now, and I've really gotten a feel for it. I…

Vassal demos sell games. Well, that's the effect they have on me any way. In the Hornet Leader II demo, you get a walkthrough and a playable version of the game? How could I resist? I just had to give it a go. The Vassal log demo did a great job o…

Dedicated to the 2008 GMT release of the same name. A rare solitaire effort that leverages some unique elements of squad/team level combat.

Thanks Josh! Glad you liked it. I'm trying to get Mark Herman to join me for a second Washington's War demo. It was really great to have the designer available to answer questions and provide insight.

Playing Field Commander: Rommel & Hornet Leader

I've been playing a lot of FC: Rommel lately. I purchased it along with FC: Alexander, but I am focusing on Rommel for now. I've really enjoyed it so far. I've played the first campaign quite a few times now, and I've really gotten a feel for it.

In my last game, I only managed to score 19 points, but I'm getting a little better every time. I'm really digging this series, and I am pleased to hear that more FC games are on the way.

My boys in Hornet Leader made it through their first mission in… Continue

My First Hornet Leader II Demo Playthrough

Vassal demos sell games.

Well, that's the effect they have on me any way. In the Hornet Leader II demo, you get a walkthrough and a playable version of the game? How could I resist? I just had to give it a go.

The Vassal log demo did a great job of demonstrating a game of HLII from start to finish. Afterward, I read the rules to catch the finer points and I was ready to play. I decided to try a single test flight instead of starting a campaign because I knew I would make some mis… Continue

Hellenes Online Demo

I attended the Hellenes Online Demo on Monday night, and I really enjoyed the walkthrough. My thanks to Craig and Joel; you guys did a great job showing the game off.

I'm familiar with Hammer of the Scots, so I was able to catch on to the familiar block game mechanics easily. I like what Craig has done with routing in the combat system. I really like the sea movement rules (including risky deepwater areas and the highly defensible narrows) and the ability to appeal to the the Olympians. If you… Continue

Once more unto the breach, dear friends, once more

I've dallied with war gaming before, but now I am going off the deep end. I have just ordered Field Commander: Alexander, Field Commander: Rommel, Fields of Fire, Silent War, and a pack of GMT counter trays from wargamedepot.com. I think I'm off to a good start.

There's not many war gamers in our group, so I'm going heavy into the solitaire games. I've always enjoyed solitaire gaming any how. I think I picked some damned fine ones to start with. I'm also on the lookout for the Ambush! games.

I… Continue

No they're not, not Super Bowl winners. Some members of the defense need a major attitude adjustment too, especially about standards and excuses.

They are really a not very good team this year.

The Steelers used an onside kick today, and almost snatched defeat from the jaws of mediocrity too. It's a big reason why Roethlisberger could throw for 500 yards and still need the last play of the game to win, by one point.

Hold the line by Worthington games. A GREAT simple revolutionary war game, similar to Command and Colors, but uses Action Points instead of cards. You can move any unit you want with your points. (Similar to Conflict of heroes)
