Online Wargames

Today I find this new online game, free, medieval roleplaying game: Imperia Online. I have yet to find one satisfactory purely online game. My experiences with those WW2 FPS were not entirely appealing to me due to the lagging (Blitzkrieg) or clumsy installation (e.g. Red Orchestra). Ultima Online is too dump to spend time with to develop a meaningful charater. Everquest is pure fantasy and spending too much time just to wander around and recognize the way.

Another one look good on the web is T… Continue

Diary of a Wargamer

Tiring to back at home, I always wanted to pull out something about wargames from the closet and read. It is hard for me to keep concentrated on the reading of indulgence as my wife keeps calling me for something.

I am now into the system of ASLSK, WW2 tactical level wargame beginning in the '80s. I was not rich enough to pay for the hundreds of dollars on Squad Leader and its numerous modules at that time. Thus I paid those some crappy 3W wargames in S&Ts. When the "bible" of Advanced Squa… Continue

Hi, Lawrence. 謝謝你下載的照片。
I have a language-oriented question for you since I'm a Chinese language educator by profession. What is the language of your meetings/gaming in your Wargamers' Society? My guess is that it would be English, due to the fact that this is the language of the rules that most games are written in, high English language proficiency among your members, plus the fact that I would assume that most non-Chinese in your society wouldn't have the proficiency to speak Chinese well enough to interact in Chinese about the game, though I may be wrong. Amongst Chinese members, though, do you hear much Mandarin or Cantonese spoken during game play? I find this topic to be very interesting when dealing with multi-lingual populations and different language use settings.

Hi Lawrence,
Go back into the PollDaddy application, and click on the poll that you just created. If you did several, then choose the one that you want from the list.

You'll probably be in the "Edit Poll" window. From the links on the left, click on "Send Poll." They'll be a big "Send to Profile" button. Clicking on that will put the poll on your page.

I hope this helps.

Hi Marcus,

It is good to hear you like the same kind of music and film like I do. I'll try to upload more music and film footage here later on.

I prefer board wargames. Check out my top 10 wargames list. I used to play only operational level wargames, and a bit strategic, but branch out to tactical level wargames recently. ASLSK, ATS, LnL, CC.....plenty of scenarios to load with.

There are not a lot of wargamers in Hong Kong. I estimate a few hundred only. But it is enough for you to find a wargamer to play against with because it is easy to meet people within the city of Hong Kong as this is a small place and the transport network is quite extensive. People seldom take more than an hour to travel to work and meet friends.

We have a local Hong Kong Society of Wargamers with about 40 members. Andrzej Cierpicki is our Chairman and he is in here too. You can learn more about us by visiting http://www.hksw.org/ too.

Good gaming!

Hi Lawrence
Well, I was in WA for 3 weeks and had to work on the other occasions. Lots of new game arrivals though:
Bulge FAB
Bitter End
Price of Freedom
Bonaparte
. . . just got to find some time to play them!

I am not sure who'll publish Brian Train's "The Greek Civil War"...perhaps Fiery Dragon.

I can tell you it is a fantastic looking simulation.
