Eric,
I'm absolutely crushed by this coming out of yours. I remember when I was just the Chogi and you got me back into wargaming, and then playing ASL, and then playtesting, and then designing, and starting game clubs, and, and, and....now I learn…
While out Christmas shopping as a young child in 1975, saw War at Sea in a hobby store. Spent my carefully saved gift money ($5) on it. So got started playing Avalon Hill games, my friend that I got to playing games then started buying SPI stuff.
P.S. I'm trying to gather all the gamers in uniform to one place, so put out the word and we'll all gather at my place.
Your favorite game(s):
Stay tuned - I'll let you know.
What game(s) are you currently playing (solitaire, FTF, PBEM, etc.) or wish to play next?
I'm stuck in this continual cycle of ASL playtesting, and I want to play Duel im Dunkeln next
What game(s) have you played recently?
ASL, ASL, ASL, and I snuck in an email game of War at Sea using the newdice dice roller.
How big is your game collection?
seven bookcases full, some stacked on top, and about a dozen scattered around the house being perused, opened, or just irritating the hell out of my wife by laying around
Your local game club(s) and/or where you reside (let's network!)
Kansas City Irregular ASLers and my own informal club, that doesn't have a name. We just get together and game.
Personal Interests (favorite activities, movies, shows, books, music, etc.)
Legal Novels, military history magazines, guns, horseback riding
Sir,
I *just* saw your message about Origins. Sorry we missed each other. I was mostly in the War College, with some time in the War Room as well. Maybe next time I get out to FLKS we'll get a chance to link up. I hope you had a great time at Origins, tho. :)
The Westin in Columbus is the nicest hotel in Columbus in my opinion. I'm certain it has a history; I just don't know what it is. It is one of the few hotels near the convention center where Origins is held that does NOT sell out. I think b.c it is "too nice" (?)
The Westin also does not hold a block of rooms for Origins guests b.c I think they also don't want to "attract THAT TYPE of guest", if you follow my drift.
I'll talk in BIG LETTERS since you're Infantry....
My AKO (ONCE AGAIN) is: Kathryn.A.Smith@us.army.mil
Have you made your hotel reservations at the Westin Columbus?
OK, I guess that makes sense. As long as the unit has the movement points to leave the formation it's in, and enter the formation it want to go to, it seems logical that it should be able to do it.
I was thinking that going from "Deliberate Assault…
You can make a single change to any formation, by paying the movement cost. I can know of no rule that states you must be in Movement to Contact, to make the change.

The last rules issue we're debating is the "Formation Change" rule.
The rules say that only one formation change per Game Turn is allowed.
Scott interprets that to mean that a unit can go from Travel to Hasty Assault, for example, as a single form…
Played a game if Vikings last night, and, although I won, it was a little unsatisfying. The complete, and nearly devastating, randomness of the cards almost undid me. Overall, it was an OK game, although there is some ambiguity in the movement rules…
Anyone else have difficulty finding opponents available for online play (e.g., Vassal) during Pacific Time hours? I know I do. I though a group to help identify people who fit that profile might be useful to others.
What a coincidence, I'm also rereading Panzer Leader while I'm waiting for Glantzs newest book to arrive (its been shipped) part 2 of the Stalingrad trilogy..
DOWNTOWN is such, such a great game. Quite a puzzle for both sides. And I love how the scenarios show the progression of air vs air, air vs ground, and ground vs air technology over the years! ELUSIVE VICTORY looks so good as well!
We will be having an Axis & Allies series games game day at the new location of The Arkham Asylum comic book and game store at 276 West Main St. in Norwich. We will start at noon and run until closing about 6 pm.
The new site has open game tables a…
