Roger Morley ARMISTICE DAY 11-11-09

I have added this as my mark of respect to all of those who fell, and those who survived but are no longer with us, fighting for the freedom and democracy we have today. I also want to offer my full respect and admiration to those who are still doing so in Afghanistan.

Tom Well here goes nothing...

Hello fellow Wargamers! I'd like to open this blog of mine with a little introduction! My name is Tom, or as many people have called me in the PC world: Enven. I have been a long time board-gamer, table-top nerd, and Military History buff [ Self proclaimed of course. ]. My time with History has been quite short [ As some of you older fellows ] but extensive. Since my education was directed toward History, primarily Military history, I have made it my life goal to dedicate myself to History and… Continue

Roger Morley Wargames Journal

Have you ever heard of this magazine? I stumbled upon it on the net, and I was able to download the first 6 issues. It based around miniature wargaming, and is put together very well. I have to admire the people who go to great pains to paint their miniatures and to creating the landscape and buildings to such incredible detail. However, they do deal with some interesting maps and details of various battles that they cover, which maybe useful to those planning on designing their own wargames.… Continue

Dan Stueber Funny stuff.....

Got this in an e-mail today. I thought it was pretty funny. Happy Birthday to all my fellow Marines out there. OOH-RAH! Semper Fi A United States Marine was attending some college courses between assignments. He had completed missions in Iraq and Afghanistan .. One of the courses had a professor who was an avowed atheist and a member of the ACLU . One day the professor shocked the class when he came in he looked to the ceiling and flatly stated, 'God, if you are real, then I want you to kn… Continue

Seth Owen Empress Augusta Bay scenario/session using War at Sea

From several posts on my blog at http://pawnderings.blogspot.com and cross posted from Boardgame Geek: It's possible to closely match the order of battle for this evenly matched battle of Nov. 2, 1943, using War at Sea ships. Darkness rules should be used. The US Order of battle is pretty easy. Four Clevelands (Cleveland, Columbia, Denver and Montpelier, 16 each) Eight Fletchers and/or Hoels and/or Kidds (Charles Ausburne, Dyson, Stanly, Claxton,… Continue

Eric Walters True Confessions: Why I Am a Pseudo-Gamer

What in the heck is a Pseudo-Gamer? It's a gamer who isn't REALLY a gamer. I think I've become a Pseudo Gamer because I talk about wargaming a whole lot more than I play them. I check all the websites (CONSIMWORLD, CONSIMWORLD Forum, CONSIMWORLD Social Website, Web Grognards, BOARDGAMEGEEK, and more), subscribe to just about every game magazine there is and read every of one them cover-to-cover, and yaks endlessly about wargames and wargaming. I listen to all the podcasts (my wife calls them "wa… Continue

Eric Walters Game Designers/Developers Take Note: Stuff That Drives Gamers Crazy

Okay, here's your chance to vent about all those design/development, systems, component, and graphical things that drive you insane in some of these games. I'll start out with my list and you can feel free to add your own pet peeves. Game designers/developers/producers take note--avoid these pitfalls at all costs! -- Hexes that are too small for the pieces or stacks. This is why ASL players like HASL and Deluxe ASL, particularly for urban scenarios. Even with tweezers, it's hard to manage stack… Continue

Trust me...this isn't a bad stacking picture at all. I'll never forget the picture of the piles and piles of deep stacks for PWG's Korsun Pocket that was played at CSW Expo many years ago. It was SCARY!!!
