I don't know why - but now I'd really like to see a LNL module based on this - I know it won't sell but would be "pure" infantry combat. Maybe I'm crazy but I find it interesting. Maybe even other "brush" wars of the Cold War. I've been thinking of it a lot lately.

I know some folks find it tasteless - but I'm interested to know what really happened, and I think the men and women who fought and died on both sides need to have the world remember.

Am I wrong?

I don't find it tasteless, and I'd love to see. Not too much has been done on this conflict, and the only tactical examination I can remember is an article and Firepower scenarios that I wrote for The General maybe twenty years ago.

Not tasteless, but how much different would it be from existing games for the value?
One side with AK's the other with M16's?
Point is, other than a quick graphics redo how much more content is there for the cost of making it?
A WW2 game will always sell so a designer can release the same basic game with a different paint job.

I think you're right about the costs of the game, but as to the rest I'm not sure I agree. I think a system like LNL is expandable and is designed to reflect differences in nationalities and formations. I think it's too simple to be a AK vs. M-16. Were the Contra's mercenaries or freedom fighters or both. Were the Sandinista's simply cannon fodder or skilled fighters. I don't have the answer but might be interesting to find out.
